Blackcurrant berries, grown in New Zealand, are amongst the world's most nutritious berries and have a long history of use in foods and beverages. Just the Berries Ltd grows a blackcurrant cultivar which has been especially developed for its exquisite taste and rich nutritional value, and which is ideal for use in nutraceutical products.

Our specially developed blackcurrant cultivars are grown at the Just the Berries Farm, located in the South Island of New Zealand, and the berries are harvested in January when they are assessed to have their highest concentrations of active anthocyanins. The blackcurrants are then processed using technology developed by Just the Berries to obtain a specially formulated pomace which retains high levels of anthocyanins. This pomace is extracted to further concentrate the blackcurrant anthocyanins found in premium nutraceutical ingredients such as Currantex extract powders.

Just the Berries unique processing provides maximum recovery and high levels of anthocyanins. Careful blending of cultivars, and selection of berries and pomaces at the outset of the extraction guarantees the right ingredient and nutraceutical products will be available to customers throughout the world.
